COULD BE STEPHEN HAWKING´S MOST IMPORTANT LEGACY POSTHUMOUS?
A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation? the final research paper by the English theorical
physicist Stephen Hawking could make an enormous impact within his field,
concretely on the multiverse theory. Even though the
paper was submitted last July, Thomas Hertog the
co-author of this paper submitted a revised version for further review at the
beginning of march, a few days before Stephen Hawking´s death. After the
research has been analysed further, the reactions by several cosmologists have
not been slow arrive, such as Carlos Frenk, professor of Cosmology at the
Durham University who stated that” the intriguing idea
in Hawking’s paper is that the multiverse left its imprint on the background
radiation permeating our universe and we could measure it with a detector on a
spaceship” (Frenk, 2018). He even took a step further, expressing how these ideas
are absolutely breath-taking for the multiverse theory, helping the astronomers
to find evidences for other universes. It looks that this research will have a deeper
discussion in the following months, as it can change completely our perception
of the cosmos and could even became the most important legacy of Stephen
Hawking.
